Birthday wish list

My birthday is mere days away and there is so much to do. I’m excited but it’s been an absolute nightmare booking bars, restaurants and the alike. Why is everywhere so booked up?! I’ve booked some time off to extend the Bank Holiday weekend into a cheeky five day birthday weekend. I hope to get some day trips crammed in there somewhere… *crosses fingers*

People are starting to ask me for birthday gift ideas and I just find it so mind boggling! Do you ever get this? There’s nothing I really need as such. I have compiled a birthday wish list in images below based on certain interests that I hold. Yes, certain electronic devices are very unlikely… but a girl can dream right? ;)

Nail wraps – my nails are the longest they’ve ever been and a whole new world has opened up to me!

Polaroid camera – anything to do with photography makes for a happy Lucy

Spike jewellery – got a major thing for spikes at the moment

Naughty Alice – won’t be to everyone’s tastes. It’s a bit of marmite scent. It’s kind of musky with vanilla tones. But then I’m sucked into anything to do with Alice in Wonderland.

Chanel nail polish – this mocha / greige shade is perfection

Hand chain / harness – My jewellery obsession du moment

Netbook – something dainty and less clunky to cart around, for the aspiring writer that I am

Candles – beautifully stylish candles with delicious aromas

Cupcake books – so I can continue fattening up friends and family with much cake. Ha!

Nail art books – Yes, there is a bit of nail theme going on here…

Style books – I am so inspired by Street Style

Ankle boots / wedges – Feed my shoe addiction! (size 6 please)

Cute notebooks that inspire me to write. Rob Ryan is a legend.

The early bird gets the worm

Topshop sale is now on!

I must admit, I was a little sceptical about their up and coming sale based on yesterday previews. That email promising you exclusivity and to “shop the sale before anyone else” gives you a little wave of excitement. The reality: a very poor selection and any useful sizes had already sold out.

This morning however is a whole other ball game. They have flippy skirted dresses. They have lace. They have pleated skirts. They have knitwear left, right and centre. Here’s a selection of what I picked up:

Have probably ordered more than I should’ve done...
But I blame morning tiredness and it being so damn early.
The tiredness can only explain the madness of why I also ordered these:

Everyone needs an obligatory what-the-hell-were-you-thinking purchase in their basket, right?! Whilst I probably wouldn’t brave these as shorts, I’d happily team them with a long tee. I love the foil effect and the I’ve-got-in-a-paintball-fight-whilst-on-acid feel to them!

Coachella 2012 – day 3

I have always been really inspired by street style but FESTIVAL street style is another kettle of fish. People go above and beyond. Ranging from gingham, feathers and Aztec print to trilby hats, bralets and crochet swimwear, anything goes. Photos of Coachella 2012 style are FINALLY starting to emerge. Here are some of my favourites courtesy of Company, Harpers Bazaar and Vogue:

How amazing are these trousers?!

<3 the shoes! Where can I get me a pair?!

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but I just have to it put it out there – Justice have been my highlight of Coachella. They just set the mood so well and ended Sunday evening on a high. Watch the crowd go crazy:

It was a nice surprise when Rihanna came on stage with Calvin Harris for his set. “We Found Love” reminds me of my mental Saturday night in Camden where one of my male friends decided to slow dance with me to this song. It’s not exactly a slow dance kinda song… If I were at Coachella this year, I definitely would’ve headed over to see Metronomy. Their tunes are bouncy and fun – perfect for day time. Every time I watch this clip, I get the giggles over the bird on the stick:

At least he’s getting into it.
“GO ON MY SON!”

Other highlights included:

At the Drive-In

Florence & the Machine

To quote Vogue: “For every smooch that was snapped, hash-tagged, and Instagrammed at the tent, one dollar was donated to Fashion Against AIDS.

Best fundraising idea EVER. J

Coachella 2012 – day 2

Bit of a hangover today after much drinking and dancing in Camden last night. Danced from 10pm-3am straight and didn’t get home until about half 4. Needless to say, I spent the rest of the morning sleeping and only surfaced at midday to sit in bed watching more festival footage. Had a good ol’ British roast at 1 ish then I went out AGAIN. ~living the dream~ Need a quieter week this week me thinks!

Coachella 2012 style is slowly but surely starting to appear on blogs and websites. Here, have a ganders. Oh I do spoil you ;)

Sources: 1, 2 & 3

Day 2 has known some amazing performances:

Radiohead

The Black Keys

Kaiser Chiefs

Bon Iver

Grouplove

Does anyone know if Grouplove performed “Lovely Cup”? It’s one of my favourites and I can’t find any footage of it so maybe they didn’t? David Guetta was brilliant and Radiohead wise, Thom Yorke was amazing to watch. He has such great stage presence. I was chuffed they played two of my favourites – Lotus Flower & 15 Step.

Which bands / acts / songs would, in your opinion, make for the best festival ever?

Coachella 2012 – day 1

Coachella. Another year, another disgruntled Lucy kicking herself for not getting tickets. Being at work yesterday was painful. I’m central London based, we had on/off rain and I was dressed in my thermals for it was freeeezing. I tried so hard not to dwell on the fact that I could be overseas frolicking in the sun, drink in hand, bopping around to the music industries finest.

I was hoping to come online today to find extensive coverage of Day One but have been left really disappointed. No websites / magazines seem to have done any features on day 1 style and there seems to be a lack on videos on the Interweb... Have only managed to find the following on YouTube so far... enjoy!

** WARNING: some strobe lighting effects do feature **

Gary Clark Jr. – Things are changin’

Swedish House Mafia – Save the world

Dawes – A little bit of everything

If like me you’ve missed out, check out the Coachella website where they have a live feed. I’ll be tuning in for Radiohead today – if I work out the time difference correctly!

20% off at Urban Outfitters and New Look!

Can’t decide whether posting this makes me a terrible influence or not! If you’re as much of a sucker for a discount code as I am, today’s your lucky day! Not one, but two high street stores getting in on the action.

Not too sure about Urban Outfitters, but know for a fact that the New Look discount code expires at midnight tonight – so get your skates on!

NL: SPRING20
URBAN O: SP2

I’m seriously tempted…

Urban Outfitters
My favourite – the tipped collar denim shirt – is already selling out fast!

New Look
Trying to be good… but the above is making things very difficult! Think I’ll finish up tonight with a sneaky order (or two) followed by a few episodes of Game of Thrones.

Anyone else tempted? ;)

Happy Easter!

Easter egg choice is already pretty daunting. With supermarket shelves piled high with chocolatey goodness, do you pick one you know has good chocolate and will taste... eggcellent? (Sorry!). Or is it all about appearance? To make matters worse - choosing that is - here’s what the Internet has to offer:
Abstract design with drawer of sea
salt caramels - Paul A. Young
Banoffee Pie - Thorntons

Eggs & Soldiers – Hotel Chocolat

Hot Cross Buns - Hotel Chocolat

£500 worth of chocolate from La
Maison du Chocolat. Ouch.

LadurĂ©e egg with crystallised
petals – for 70 odd quid

Lastly, does anyone remember these?

I remember buying these from our local corner shop yearsssss ago and they were Teh Sex. Haven’t been able to track them down since though. Sad times.

Hope you all have a lovely, relaxing Easter / Passover break!
