I CAN'T SLEEP

Not sure if it's just me, but I'm really having issues sleeping at the moment. At night I just can't seem to switch off. My mind is constantly buzzing and my naturally excitable nature doesn't exactly help either. I've tried all manner of things this week - from OD'ing on hot milky drinks and relaxing herbal teas to spending hours on end in a bubble filled bath. Granted, I then get more sleep than I would without these things, but it still isn't enough. I can't function without sleep. How I'm even managing to type this now amazes me.

I read the other day that to have the best possible sleep, your room needs to be a haven of peace and tranquillity  It is supposed to be clutter free because a tidy room = a tidy mind. Oh boy, am I screwed.

To say my room is cluttered is an understatement. I am way too sentimental and I hoard a lot. That cute Valentine's Day card I got? Probably should be binned. The past is the past after all.

I think my aim in 2013 is to learn how to let go. I plan to bag lots of things up and take them to car boot sales and charity shops. I will find new storage solutions to lose the clutter, and I hope to re-decorate completely. If you know of any great storage tips / decoration ideas, please link me to them below! :)

So far Tumblr has inspired me a lot:

Beaten up suitcases and chests for storage, exposed brick walls, lanterns and fairy lights galore, candles, a chalk board wall and bringing the great outdoors.... indoors. And check out that glass roof.... *swoons*

Which room is your favourite?

  1. Wow! I love the second picture the most :)

I'm having issues with sleeping as well, I found out cutting back on sweets and fizzy drinks has helped a little oddly enough. I really need to declutter my room as well, I had a big clear out a couple of weeks ago and it's somehow ended up cluttered again! Ergh :( not fun, think that'll be a job for me this weekend!

Hope you had a good Christmas and New Year hun :) xx

    1. I do too - it's really sophisticated and I love the light coming from behind the head board :)

Haha, I'm exactly the same! I tidy and then it's back to how it was before! I'm so tidy and organised at work and elsewhere in the house... so I never understand why it's my room that always suffers!

Thank you - hope you did too and wishing you all the best in 2013! :) x x

  2. How strange, right now I'm just having a break after decluttering my room all day! It's sooo hard, I hate getting rid of things. Gotta put a load of stuff on Ebay too, such a boring job haha. xxx

  5. I feel you! I can't sleep well either. There's just so much going on and I can't switch off.. Dozing off into good night's sleep does seem much more realisable in cosy beds such as these above :P The first one looks fantastic!! Super lovely post xx

I love the lanterns second to bottom, but a fish tank over my bed would freak me out! xx
