16 signs you are in love

The way you can just look at each other knowingly and not have to say a thing

Every time you see him or her you're like

You can't help but smile when you think about them

You miss them when they're not with you

Every time your phone goes, there's the thought that it could be them

When it's not them you feel sad

Like really gutted

You need them in your bed at all times

You find yourself doing things / liking things that you usually wouldn't

You're all about texts first thing in the morning and last thing before bed when you're apart

When you're with them, you feel on the top of the world, and stupidly happy

You love them and their flaws. Even though some of them are a bit weird

But that's ok.

You still love them even though some of the things they cook leave little to be desired

Screw nights out, you just want a night in with them

And finally.... the last sign that you've caught the lovebug this Valentine's Day? If you can resist the temptation to scoff all of the below by yourself and actually share them with your loved one. Because that's true love right there.

Cue these cute heart shaped doughnuts. Both of which are limited edition from Krispy Kreme this Valentine's Day. Choose from red (covered in raspberry icing and filled with strawberry mousse) or yellow (topped with vanilla icing and filled with chocolate). The strawberry mousse was light, fluffy and sweet. I've never had mousse inside a doughnut before so this was a nice change. And how was the chocolate filling? I think you all know the answer to this. Because chocolate.

I'm a chocolate doughnut sort of girl through and through, however the lovebug doughnut changed me - it's been the first non chocolate doughnut that I've really enjoyed! Because in the past I was that girl who sat empty handed, sans doughnut, with just a hot drink if the chocolate doughnuts had gone for whatever reason. But I am a changed woman. And I feel like this is just the beginning of my non-chocolate doughnut journey. Although saying that, I did have to pick up some of my absolute favourites, the Chocolate Dreamcakes. That gooey chocolate centre though!

Krispy Kreme doughnuts are priced at £15 for a box of twelve, otherwise you can buy individually from your local Krispy Kreme or supermarket (I find that Tesco usually has a Krispy Kreme stand!). Although I did see these doughnuts lately in the service station on the way to Bristol the other week. You can also order these online for click and collect.

  • Although Krispy Kreme very kindly provided me with a box of doughnuts to review, as ever all words and opinions are my own!

The perfect night in // Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day. The marmite event of the year. Some people love it, some people hate it. The one thing I really dislike about Valentine's Day is the amount of pressure this day places on you. The pressure to spend, spend, spend or risk looking like a bad boyfriend / girlfriend if you don't. The pressure of having the best possible night (much like New Years Eve). And lastly the pressure of looking your absolute best. Notably for women. There are magazines, newspapers and advertising left, right and centre saying that you should be wearing a body con dress you can't breathe in, you should be risking your neck in skyscraper heels, and you should be wearing swanky underwear. I don't like being told what to do, what to wear and how to act. If you love someone you should show them the same level of love and respect all year long - not just on the 14th because the card companies told you so.

But it doesn't have to be like this. Why not stay at home and recreate a meal out or a night at a hotel? Lounge around in white fluffy bath robes, light some candles, wine and dine one another, and just be yourselves. Lots of the supermarkets have 2-for-1 inspired meal deals making it far better value for money than dining out. Also there are lots of lovely pieces of homeware out there that won't cost an arm and a leg and can be used time and time again for other special occasions. Consider it an investment. And it'll work out tons cheaper than that hotel, trust me.

Here are my Valentine's Day essentials for the perfect night in:

Swoon sensual massage gift set  // Glass bowls & oak board set // Goblets // Faux flowers in vase // heart jars
Embellished bedding // Heart cushion // Hotel Chocolat pink champagne truffles // Topshop lingerie

My ideal night in would include; dim lighting with candles everywhere possible, new / clean bedding, cooking our own three course meal just the two of us, a bottle of wine (in an ideal world, Malbec), nice lingerie, massages, sharing a bath together, bath robes, and afterwards lounge around watching movies in bed. With chocolate of course.

I'm really into interiors at the moment - particularly glassware it seems. The heart jars would be ideal for homemade desserts like cheesecake or an ice cream sundae with brownie pieces and lots of cream on top. Very Pinterest. The same goes with the glass bowls on that beautiful oak board. And I'm pretty sure those wine glasses aren't called goblets on the Next website... but they looked regal enough to be called goblets. And that bedding though. SWOON.

What have you got planned for Valentine's Day?

ALDO Valentine's Collection

Even if you hate Valentine's Day with a passion, ALDO's Valentine's collection will melt even the coldest of hearts. Featuring mostly a pastel colour palette - with black thrown in for any pastel-phobes - it's a sweet and whimsical collection which you can't help but coo over. Love heart bags, story book inspired clutch bags, delicate jewellery, perfume bottle bags...  And how cute is the toi & moi necklace?

Story book clutch   //   Perfume bottle bag    //   "toi & moi" necklace  //   "love" necklace  //   Love heart bag

Note: this is not a sponsored post. I simply walked into ALDO one lunch time, spotted the collection, and knew I wanted to write about it. Being quite the book lover, I couldn't resist the story book clutch. I chose the pastel coloured one because the black isn't as nice when you see it in person. It's the perfect sized little clutch bag which I intend on using on Valentine's Day paired with my new dress which I first spoke about here. Quite a girly look for me, but I feel I can get away with it on Valentine's Day of all days!

How you know if he's a keeper

A little while ago I posted about the subject of love. I'm all for relationships. I know the very thought of them - or any other form of commitment - horrifies some men and I honestly can't understand why. Guys like that need to get a grip. I love date nights. The thrill of dressing up and catching his admiring gaze. That naughty little smirk he gives you. How he takes your hand and puts his arm around you in public, not caring who sees. Gawd only knows when my next date night will be. Soon one hopes. If there's ever a remedy for a crappy week, it's a date night.

I thought I'd do a similar themed post ready in time for Valentine's Day.
The theme this time being... how you know if he's a keeper:

Amusingly enough I know how this would work the other way round. If men were posed the question "how do you know if she's a keeper?" the answer would blatantly involve sex in some shape or form. *sigh* Or something along the lines of "she can cook a mean curry / chilli con carne / chicken katsu" [delete as appropriate]. And for the record, I can cook a mean chicken katsu.
